The owner of a 2004 Acura RSX contacted the Oakland Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen. The victim stated they discovered the Acura missing from the street in front of their apartment at E12th Street and 5th Avenue.

The Oakland PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Acura RSX.

A short time later, an investigator with the Alameda County Regional Auto Theft Task Force picked up the silent LoJack signal from the Acura with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC the investigator tracked the Acura to the residential area at E 38th Street and Brighton Avenue where the vehicle was located unoccupied, parked at the curb. Several stolen items including computer hardboards and numerous uniforms from a local martial arts studio were found in the Acura and were returned to those victims.

The Acura was recovered and towed/stored to be returned back to the victim.  The victim advised he recalled purchasing the LoJack® System when he purchased the Acura new but he was unaware it would still continue to function after all of this time had passed.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Acura RSX in December 2004 at Cush Acura Kearny Mesa in San Diego, California.
