The owners of a 2015 Hyundai Elantra contacted the New Orleans Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen.  The owners informed the officer that they parked the Hyundai in the carport of their home. The next morning as they left the residence and found the Hyundai had been stolen. The owner stated that they had left the key fob in Hyundai.

The New Orleans PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Hyundai.

Just 5 minutes later troopers from the Louisiana State Police picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Hyundai with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC the troopers tracked the Hyundai as it was being driven in the Gentilly area of the city. The troopers conducted a felony stop on the stolen Hyundai at which time the occupant fled on foot but was apprehended quickly and placed under arrest.

The owner was contacted and reunited with their Hyundai in great shape.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Hyundai Elantra in February 2016 at Premier Chrysler Jeep Dodge in New Orleans, Louisiana
