The owner of a 2012 Chevrolet Impala discovered their car missing from their home. They contacted the Hollywood Police Department to report their Chevrolet stolen. The responding officer prepared a stolen vehicle report, theft affidavit and had the vehicle’s information entered into the state and federal crime information computers, which automatically activates the LoJack® System concealed in the Chevrolet.

Later that afternoon an Auto Theft Task Force investigator picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Impala transponder on their on-board LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC), that are installed in law enforcement patrol vehicles, helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft. The investigator began tracking the stolen Chevrolet by following the directional and audible cues on their PTC’s screen. The investigator, along with their backup from the Hollywood PD, located the 4-door sedan parked in a parking lot around Young’s Circle. The Chevrolet was recovered, removed from state and federal crime information computer systems by the entering agency and towed to the police impound yard for safekeeping.

It should be noted that this is the second time that this vehicle was stolen and successfully recovered with the use of the LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery System. The last time was in July 2016.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2012 Chevrolet Impala in November 2013 at Enterprise Lauderdale Lakes in Florida.
