The owners of a 2002 Chrysler Voyager contacted the Dearborn Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen overnight from their residence.

The Dearborn PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Chrysler.

A short while later troopers from the Michigan State Police and deputies from the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Chrysler with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC the deputies and troopers determined that the Chrysler was mobile on the interstate.  Upon closing in on the Chrysler the suspect sped off and then exited the vehicle in a residential area on the border of Detroit and Dearborn.

The area was searched, however the suspect was not located.  The only damage was to the Chrysler’s ignition.  Because of the quick recovery the suspect did not have enough time to strip it or use it to commit additional crimes.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Chrysler Voyager in October 2001 at Westborn Chrysler Jeep in Dearborn, Michigan.
