The owner of a 2014 Toyota Camry contacted the Dallas Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen. The owner parked his Toyota in a restaurant parking lot and when he returned to it he found it missing.

The Dallas PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.

Forty minutes later, officers from the Dallas PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC the officers tracked the stolen Toyota to an apartment complex in the 2600 block of Community Dr where they found it abandoned in the parking lot.  This Toyota was recovered in good condition.  Officers are reviewing video from the restaurant to see if a suspect can be identified. This is an ongoing investigation.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Camry in September 2013 at Toyota of Plano in Texas.
