The owner of a Chevrolet Venture contacted the Dallas Police Department to report that his van was stolen. The owner was selling a scooter and let a potential buyer test drive it.  The keys to his van were on the same key chain as the scooter key.  The next morning the van was missing from his driveway.  When the owner checked his key chain, he found his van key missing.

The Dallas PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Chevrolet van.

Fifty two minutes later, officers from the Garland Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Chevrolet van with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC the officers tracked the stolen Chevrolet van to the 12000 block of Shiloh Road where they observed it parked in a video store parking lot.  When officers approached the stolen van they found a suspect sleeping in the passenger seat.  He was awakened, he told officers that a friend had driven it and the friend had gone into the video store.  The officers found the friend inside the store but he denied driving the van.  He stated that the suspect who was found sleeping in the van was the driver.  Both suspects were identified and released.  Officers retrieved the parking lot video from the video store to see if it shows which suspect drove the van.  This is an ongoing investigation.  This Chevrolet was recovered in good condition.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Chevrolet Venture in February 2005 at Landmark Chevrolet in Houston, Texas.
