LoJack® System Helps Tucson Police Department Recover Stolen Ford F-250

The owners of a 2005 Ford F-250 contacted the Tucson Police Department to report that their pickup was stolen without the keys from a church parking lot in the downtown area.

The Tucson PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford.

Seven minutes later, officers from the Tucson PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Ford with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Ford to Mission Road where the vehicle was seen travelling southbound.

The Tucson PD officer followed the occupied Ford while waiting for additional police officers and the air unit to arrive.  The stolen Ford was later stopped at the intersection of La Cholla Boulevard and San Marcos Boulevard.  The driver bailed from the Ford and fled on foot.  The Tucson PD K-9 apprehended the suspect.  The suspect was arrested and booked for the vehicle theft.  The Ford was recovered and processed for evidence.  The Ford F-250 was later returned to the owners in good condition.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Ford F-250 in October 2011 by Arizona Direct Sales.
