LoJack® System Helps New York Police Department Recover a Stolen 2002 Toyota RAV 4

The owner of the Toyota Rav 4 went to look at an apartment he was going to rent; unfortunately he made the mistake of leaving his car double parked with the keys in the ignition. When he came out for the Toyota he found it missing; this was in East Elmhurst confines of the 115 precinct in Queens, New York. He immediately called the New York Police Department of the 115 precinct, when the police responded they took a written report. The NYPD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota Rav 4.

A short while later the silent LoJack signal was picked up by officers of the 114 precinct NYPD, this was in the Astoria section of Queens. The signal was tracked through various streets in Astoria Queens. Eventually the Toyota was found parked unoccupied in a commercial area. The officers decided to stakeout the Toyota and after a short while when no one showed up for the vehicle they took it into custody. The Toyota was recovered without any damage.

The owner was contacted and he was elated that his Toyota was recovered so quickly especially without any damage. Stating that he was happy that his Toyota was equipped with the LoJack® System when he purchased it.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2002 Toyota Rav 4 in February 2002 at Route 22 Toyota in Hillside, New Jersey.
