The owners of a 2008 Honda Accord contacted the Columbus Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen overnight from their residence.

The Columbus PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.

A short while later deputies from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputies tracked the Honda to a commercial area of Columbus.  It appeared that the suspects had parked the stolen Honda there to “cool off.”

Because of the quick recovery the suspects did not have enough time to strip the Honda or use it to commit additional crimes.  The Honda was impounded and later returned to the owner.  This matter is to be further investigated by the Franklin County SO.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Honda Accord in January 2008 at Browns Honda City in Glen Burnie, Maryland.
