The owners of a 2014 Subaru Outback contacted the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen.   The owners had parked their Subaru in front of their residence in the 4400 block of Greenhill Ave.  The owners believe that they forgot to lock the Subaru and told police that there was a valet key left in the center console of the car.  The owners went into the house for the night and when they came out the next day they found the Subaru missing.

A police officer verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Subaru.

2 days later troopers from the Nevada Highway Patrol picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Subaru with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTCs) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  A few minutes after the troopers picked up the signal, officers from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department as well as Officers from the Henderson Police Department also picked up the signal.

Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers and troopers tracked the vehicle to the parking lot of a store near the intersection of Sunset and Gibson in Henderson, Nevada.  The Subaru was unoccupied at the time of the recovery however the engine was warm and there was evidence recovered from inside of the Subaru that it had just returned from a very remote area.  The Subaru was in good condition and was returned back to the owners.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Subaru Outback in March of 2014 at Subaru of Las Vegas, Las Vegas, Nevada.
