The owners of a 2001 Ford F-150 contacted the Phoenix Police Department to report that their pickup had been stolen sometime during the past four hours from the parking lot of a golf course.

The Phoenix PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford.

Twenty-six minutes, later officers from the Glendale Police Department and the Phoenix PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Ford with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Ford to the area of 51st Avenue and Thunderbird Road in Glendale.

Officers located the stolen Ford in the parking lot of an apartment complex approximately five miles from where it was stolen from.  The Ford was unoccupied and no suspects were observed with the vehicle or in the immediate area.  The Phoenix PD officers recovered the stolen Ford and processed it for evidence.  The Ford was returned to the owner in good condition.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Ford F-150 in August 2001 at Sunset Ford in Peoria, Arizona.
