LoJack® System Helps Franklin County Sheriff’s Office Recover Stolen Mercedes Benz C240

The owners of a 2005 Mercedes Benz C240 contacted the Columbus Police Department to report that their keys and vehicle were stolen from a known suspect from their residence.

The Columbus PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Mercedes.

A short while later deputies from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Mercedes with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputies tracked the Mercedes to a residential area of the far east end of Columbus.

The stolen Mercedes had no damage, was impounded and later returned to the owner.  Because of the quick recovery the suspects did not have enough time to strip it or use it to commit additional crimes.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Mercedes Benz C240 in December 2004 at Foreign Motors West Mercedes in Natick, Massachusetts.
