LoJack® System Helps Cleveland Police Department Recover a Stolen Dodge Caravan

The owners of a Dodge Caravan contacted the Euclid Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen overnight from their residence.
The Euclid PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Dodge.
A short while later officers from the Cleveland Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Dodge with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Dodge to a residential area of Cleveland. It appeared that the suspects parked the Dodge to “cool off.”
The only damage was to the vehicle’s ignition. Because of the quick recovery the suspects did not have enough time to strip the Dodge or use it to commit additional crimes. The stolen Dodge was impounded and later returned to the owner.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Dodge Caravan in June 1996 via Direct Sales in Dade County, Florida.
