The owner of a Honda Accord called the Albuquerque Police Department to report a carjacking.  The Albuquerque PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.

Shortly after the activation, officers with the Albuquerque PD and New Mexico State Police picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol vehicles.  Following the audible and directional cues from the PTC, the Honda was determined to be mobile and driving through the Southwest Area Command.

Detectives with the Albuquerque PD Auto Theft unit arrived into the area and took over tracking the stolen Honda.  The stolen Honda was covertly tracked until it arrived at a tire shop.  The offender attempted to sell the Honda’s tires to the shop but detectives prevented his scheme.  The offender was taken into custody, the Honda was recovered and its wheels were returned.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Honda Accord in July 1999 at Bell Honda in Phoenix, Arizona.
