The owners of a (2003 Toyota Avalon) contacted the Los Angeles Sheriff’s to report that their vehicle was stolen.  Deputies verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota Avalon.

Minutes later officers from LAPD Topanga Division picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota Avalon with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that is installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the vehicle from Desoto and Parthenia to the 8700 block of Desoto and located the vehicle parked and occupied by one male adult. The suspect was taken into custody without further incident and interviewed.  The story given to the officers did not match what apparently happened so he was arrested and booked for the theft of the vehicle.  The vehicle was later returned undamaged to the victim.  Case was referred to station detectives for follow up.

The LoJack® System was installed in the (Toyota Avalon) in September 2002 at Frontier Toyota, Valencia CA.
