The owner of a Honda Civic contacted the Ontario Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen in the city of Ontario.

Ontario Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.

At a later time officers from Beaumont Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the vehicle to a commercial parking lot located at the 1400 block of Second Street and Market Place in the city of Beaumont. A male and female were detained; the male was arrested for vehicle theft and possession of stolen property.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Honda on November 1997 at Gardena Honda, Gardena, California.
