A
dealership reported this 2015 Lexus ES350 to the San Bernardino County Sheriffs
Victorville station as an embezzled vehicle.
Fraudulent documents were used to complete the purchase. SBSD verified the embezzlement and entered the vehicle information into the state and
federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Lexus.
A short while later deputies from LASD Compton picked up the silent LoJack signal
from the stolen Lexus with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are
installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues
from the PTC, the deputies tracked the mobile Lexus to the area of
Willowbrook Avenue and Compton Boulevard.
The Lexus was being driven by a female with a female passenger. The deputies were able to safely stop the
Lexus and detain the two occupants, who turned out to be sisters. The deputies spoke with the driver, who
claimed the Lexus belonged to her cousin and she had permission to drive the
Lexus. The driver did not provide the
identity of her cousin. The deputies
spoke with the passenger (sister of the driver), who said the Lexus belonged to
the driver.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Lexus ES350 in September 2016 at Friendly Ford, Las Vegas NV.
