The owner of a 2004 Toyota Camry contacted the Chicago Park Police Department to report that a new acquaintance had stolen his vehicle and wallet from the hotel on the 700 block of E 38th Ave in Chicago’s Fernwood neighborhood after he had fallen asleep. Police Department after verifying facts as presented entered the Toyota Camry into N.C.I.C the national criminal computer database as stolen. Once entered a signal is sent to the LoJack unit concealed within the Toyota causing it to activate.

Shortly after the Toyota was activated, Chicago Police/Cook County helicopter equipped with LoJack’s Police Tracking Computers picked up the silent and directional signals being broadcast from the stolen Toyota Camry. Ground units equipped with LoJack’s Police Tracking Computer directed to the area by the helicopter located the stolen Camry in the 300 block of E 119th Street in Chicago’s West Pullman neighborhood parked and unoccupied. The vehicle was recovered by Chicago Police and towed for processing. The wallet unfortunately wasn’t recovered. Police investigation into this auto theft continues.

Due to LoJack the owner of this 2004 Toyota Camry had his vehicle recovered hours after he reported it stolen undamaged, before it could be stripped, cloned, re-tagged or used in a crime. The LoJack was installed in the Toyota, Camry at Rockingham Toyota, Dodge, and Nissan of Salem New Hampshire in January of 2006.
