The owners of a 2005 Nissan Titan contacted the Phoenix Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen by armed suspects during a carjacking.
The Phoenix PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Nissan.
Four minutes later, the police helicopter and officers from the Phoenix PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Nissan with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the helicopter and officers tracked the Nissan to a neighborhood near 67th Avenue and Flower Street in Phoenix.
The Nissan was located unoccupied on a side street in the neighborhood. The area was checked for the suspects with negative results. The Nissan was recovered and processed for evidence. The Nissan was later returned to the owner in good condition.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Nissan Titan in July 2005 at ABC Nissan in Phoenix, Arizona.
