The owners of a 2003 Mercedes C230 contacted the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen. The owners had parked and locked the Mercedes in the parking garage of a casino in the 3900 block of South Las Vegas Boulevard. When the owners returned a short time later, they found the Mercedes missing.
A police officer verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Mercedes.
A short while later officers from the Las Vegas Metropolitan PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Mercedes with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTCs) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.
Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Mercedes to the parking lot of a strip mall in the 3300 block of West Ali Baba. The Mercedes was found abandoned and intact. The Mercedes was recovered and returned back to the owners.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Mercedes C230 in January 2009 at Findlay Kia in Las Vegas, Nevada.
