The owner of a 2006 Land Rover Range Rover contacted the Chicago Police Department to report that someone had stolen their vehicle from in front of their residence in the 4300 block of S Michigan Ave in Chicago’s Grand Boulevard neighborhood. The Chicago Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Land Rover.
Minutes after the Land Rover was activated by being reported stolen Chicago PD ground units equipped with LoJack Police Tracking Computers in Chicago’s South Chicago District picked up the audible and directional signal being broadcast from the stolen Land Rover. Following the signal the ground units of the Chicago PD located the stolen Land Rover parked in a storage shed on the 8400 block of S Aberdeen Ave in Chicago’s Auburn Gresham neighborhood. The Chicago PD’s Major Auto Theft Investigation unit obtained a warrant for the shed indicated by LoJack as containing the stolen Land Rover and recovered the vehicle inside. The Land Rover was recovered and towed for police investigation.
Due to LoJack the owner of a 2006 Land Rover had his vehicle recovered miles away, inside storage, undamaged, before it could be stripped, re-tagged, or cloned.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Land Rover Range Rover in February 2006 at Land Rover of North Dade in Miami, Florida.
