The owners of a 2016 Honda Accord contacted the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department to report that their vehicle was stolen sometime during the night. Apparently keys to the Honda were left on the front porch of the residence giving an opportunity for young car thieves to locate them and steal the Honda.  Deputies verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.

A short while later, officers from the San Fernando Police Department overheard an LAPD Air Ship tracking the Honda.  They rolled into the area of Foothill Blvd and Hubbard, picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Honda and observed it stopped at a red light.  The officers requested back up and followed the Honda for about a block at that time they affected a felony traffic stop. The driver fled from the Honda and was apprehended.  Another female suspect was also apprehended without further incident.  Both juveniles were booked for the theft as well as other violations.  The Honda was processed and released at the scene to the victim.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Honda Accord in May 2016 at Galpin Honda in San Fernando, California.

Note this install was part of a Pre Install Program which not only protects the dealership, but also protects the customer who purchases the vehicle.
