The owners of a Ford F-250 contacted the Lakewood Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen from their home in Lakewood.  A police officer verified the theft and had the vehicle information entered into the state and federal crime computers.  This routine action automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford.

Just 3-minutes later deputies with the Adams County Sheriff’s Office were picking up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Ford with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTCs) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  The Denver PD, Westminster PD, Thornton PD and Federal Heights PD officers were also receiving the LoJack signal being broadcast from the stolen Ford truck.

Following the directional and audible cues from the PTCs the deputies tracked the Ford to the 8000 block of Sherman Way where the truck had just pulled into a driveway of a residence.  No one was in the truck but several persons were contacted at the residence and evidence from the truck has been collected.  This case remains under investigation.

The truck and the owner’s livelihood (tools and equipment) were quickly recovered and returned to the very happy victims of this crime.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Ford F-250 in 2002 at AutoNation Ford in Valencia, California, at the request of a previous owner of the truck.
