The owners of a 2014 BMW 428 contacted the Los Angeles Police Department Rampart Division to report that their vehicle was stolen.
The LAPD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the BMW.
A short time later, the LAPD Olympic Division patrol officers picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen BMW with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol units. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the BMW to the area of 7th Street and Vermont Ave. The officers conducted a traffic stop and took the suspect into custody for auto theft related charges without incident.
The BMW was released to the owner.
The LoJack® System was installed in the BMW 428 in June 2014 at BMW of Ontario in California.
