The owner of the Honda Insight left his vehicle double parked while he ran into a store. Unfortunately he made the mistake of leaving the keys in the ignition with the motor running. Apparently some miscreant jumped into the Honda and drove off with it in the Long Island City section of Queens, confines of the 108 precinct. When he came out and found his Honda missing he immediately called the New York Police Department to report the theft.
When the police arrived they took a written report for the theft. This information was then entered by the NYPD in the city, state and federal crime computer which automatically and seamlessly activated the LoJack® System in the stolen Honda.
A short while later the silent LoJack signal was picked up by the Patrol Boro of Queens North Conditions Car in the Jackson Heights section of Queens, confines of the 115 precinct. They tracked the Honda through various streets in Jackson heights. Eventually they caught up to the Honda that was stopped for a traffic light. They were able to overtake the Honda without incident and arrest the two occupants without incident. Thereby, avoiding a possibly dangerous chase.
The owner was contacted and he was elated that his Honda was recovered so quickly, especially with no damage. He further stated that he was happy that when he bought the Honda the LoJack® System was installed in the vehicle when he bought it, because he knew that if it wasn’t for LoJack the vehicle may never have been recovered at all.
The LoJack® System was installed in the 2010 Honda Insight in June 2010 at Paragon Honda in Queens, New York.
