The owner of a 2015 Toyota Scion contacted the Baltimore County Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from the 400 block Valley Meadow Circle in the Owings Mills area of Baltimore County, Maryland. The Baltimore County PD Radio dispatched an officer from the Franklin Precinct to investigate the incident. The officer quickly arrived on location, interviewed the complainant and surveyed the area for the Scion. When the officer was unable to locate the Scion a stolen vehicle report was prepared. The officer then arranged for the stolen vehicle information to be entered into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Scion.
A short while later, officers from the Baltimore City Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Scion with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol vehicles and helicopters. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Scion to the 5500 Lothian Road in the Govans area of Baltimore City, Maryland. At this location, officers observed the Scion parked and unoccupied. Police then recovered the Scion and notified the owner.
The LoJack® System was installed in the 2015 Toyota Scion in November 2015 at R&H Toyota in Baltimore, Maryland.
