The owners of a 2005 Chevrolet Avalanche contacted the Huntington Park Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Chevrolet Avalanche.

Eighteen (18) minutes later the Los Angeles Police Department Air 18 flight officers picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Chevrolet Avalanche with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, Air-18 tracked the Chevrolet from Ave 32 and Griffin onto the 110 Freeway where they coordinated this information to ground units from the Hollenbeck Division.  Officers from the Hollenbeck Division caught up to the Chevrolet at which time the driver and sole occupant pulled over and stopped.  This subject was taken into custody without further incident. The Chevrolet was stored for safe keeping. The incident is under investigation by station detectives.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Chevrolet Avalanche in July 2005 at Paradise Chevrolet in Ventura, California.
