The owners of a Honda CR-V contacted the Denver Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen. A police officer verified the theft and had the vehicle information entered into the state and federal crime computers. This routine action automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.
Four-minutes later officers with the Denver PD, Colorado State Patrol, Adams County Sheriff’s Office and the University Colorado Denver Police Department were picking up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, officers with the Denver PD tracked and recovered the stolen Honda in the 2900 block of North Hudson Street.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Honda CR-V in 2003 at Planet Honda Hyundai in Golden, Colorado, at the request of a prior owner of the car.
