
LoJack® System Helps Chicago Police Department Recover Stolen Case Skid Steer 185C

Security noticed a rented Case Skid Steer missing from one of their marshalling yards on the 2900 block of S Moe Drive along Chicago’s lake front. Security contacted the Chicago Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Case Skid Steer.
Shortly after the Case was entered as stolen, a Chicago/Cook County helicopter picked up the audible and directional signal being broadcast from the stolen Skid Steer. Following the signal being broadcast the helicopter located the Case Skid Steer in an empty lot on the 9600 block of S 96th street in Chicago’s East Side neighborhood. Ground units were directed to the site where the stolen Case was recovered. The Chicago PD returned the stolen Case to security on scene. The Chicago PD investigation into the theft and recovery of this piece of construction equipment continues.
Due to LoJack the business had their Case 1845C Skid Steer back hours after it was reported it stolen.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Case Skid Steer in February 2009 at a local construction company in Elgin, Illinois.
