The owner of the Acura MDX lent her car to a so called friend, who said she would return the car to her in a short while. Days went by and the friend never returned the Acura. Numerous calls and text messages went to her unanswered leaving the owner no choice but report the Acura as theft. This was in the Rosedale section of Queens, confines of the 113 precinct. She immediately called the New York Police Department of the 113 precinct to report the theft.
When the police arrived they took a written report for the theft. This information was entered by the NYPD in the city, state and federal crime computer which automatically activated the LoJack® System in the stolen Acura.
A short while later the silent LoJack signal was picked up by the Bronx Auto Larceny Unit in the Bronx on the LoJack Police Tracking Computer in their vehicle. They tracked it to a residential section of the South Bronx and the Acura was apparently moving. They followed the moving signal until they were able to catch up to it. Eventually they were able to stop the Acura safely, thereby avoiding a possibly dangerous pursuit. The operator was arrested without incident. The Acura was recovered in good condition with no damage.
The owner was contacted and she was elated that her Acura was recovered so quickly especially with no damage. She further stated that she was happy that when she bought the Acura it was equipped with the LoJack® System because she knew that if it wasn’t for LoJack it may never have been recovered at all.
The LoJack® System was installed in the 2005 Acura MDX via Direct Customer in Queens, New York.
