The owner of the 2011 Ford F250, a major home improvement center, rented the vehicle to a supposed customer with the agreement that it be returned on a certain due date. When the Ford was not returned in time the store’s Loss Prevention officer did some checking; he found that the Ford had been rented with fraudulent papers. This was in the Astoria Queens, New York store, confines of the 114 precinct.  He immediately called the New York Police Department of the 114 precinct to report the theft.

When the police arrived they took a written report.  This information was entered by the NYPD in the city, state, and federal crime computer which automatically activated the LoJack® System in the stolen Ford.

A short while later the silent signal was picked up in Nassau County by a Nassau County police officer on the LoJack Police Tracking Computer in his vehicle; this was in the Elmont section of Nassau.  He tracked the apparently moving Ford in the residential section of Elmont.  Eventually catching up with the Ford and stopping it. The driver did not have a valid rental agreement nor did he have a valid reason for possessing the Ford. He was placed under arrest without incident. The Ford was recovered in good condition with no damage.

The owner was contacted and they were elated that their Ford was recovered so quickly, especially with no damage. They further stated that were happy that they installed the LoJack® System in their Ford stating that if it was not for LoJack it may not have been recovered at all.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2011 Ford F250 in October 2010 at HTG Upfitter in Atlanta, Georgia.
