The owners of a 2008 GMC Sierra pickup contacted the Galena Park Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from their residential driveway during the overnight period.

The Galena Park PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the GMC.

A short while later deputies from the Harris County Sheriff’s Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen GMC with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputies tracked the GMC to a large apartment complex on Maxey Road one (1) mile North of I-10 Freeway. The pickup was parked and abandoned at the gated entrance to the apartment complex. The GMC only sustained minor entry and ignition damage thanks to the quick recovery by deputies. After the GMC was processed for prints and was stored pending notification of the owner.
