An auto dealership in Charlotte, North Carolina, contacted the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department to report that they had been the victim of an identity theft in which a 2015 Porsche Panamera had been stolen. The Charlotte – Mecklenburg PD after verifying the facts as presented entered the Porsche into the federal and state database as stolen which automatically sends a signal to the LoJack unit hidden within the stolen Porsche which causes it to activate.

The silent LoJack signal activated and broadcasted in Chicago, Illinois. The Chicago/Cook County helicopter, Illinois State Police and Chicago Police Department all picked up the signal being broadcast from the stolen Porsche.  The Illinois State Police recovered the Porsche at 730 S Clark Street in a parking garage in Chicago’s South Loop neighborhood. The Porsche had been parked on the 4th level of a public parking garage. The Porsche was towed by the Illinois State Police for investigation.

Due to LoJack an auto dealership in North Carolina was able to get back their 2015 Porsche Panamera, stolen from their dealership by identity theft undamaged over 750 miles away.
