An Auto Dealer called the Chicago Police Department to report a 2005 Infiniti FX35 had been stolen from their lot in Chicago’s Cragin neighborhood.  The Chicago PD on scene of theft verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Infiniti.

Shortly after the unit activated the Chicago PD officers from the Engelwood Ave District and Illinois State Police from the Chicago District picked up the silent and directional signal being broadcast from the LoJack unit concealed within the stolen Infiniti. Following the silent and directional signal being broadcast, the Chicago PD officers tracked the stolen Infiniti to the 7100 block of S Elizabeth Ave in Chicago’s Engelwood neighborhood where it was recovered parked and unoccupied in an empty lot.  The Illinois State Police recovered the Infiniti and towed it for processing.  During the recovery police on scene observed three other cars with placards from a dealership parked in the lot.  The Vehicle Identification Numbers of these vehicles were checked and it was discovered they were also all reported stolen from the same dealer. Also recovered with the LoJack equipped Infiniti were a 2012 Dodge Charger, a 2006 Lincoln Zephyr and a 2007 Infiniti G35.

Due to LoJack the dealership had four of his vehicles returned to him undamaged, before they could be stripped, re-tagged, cloned, or used in a crime. The LoJack® System was installed in the Infiniti in October 2006 at Luxury Motors O’Hare in Franklin Park, Illinois.
