The owner of a 2009 BMW 128i discovered that her car had been stolen from the parking area in Atlanta, Georgia, where she had left it the night before. After discovering the theft, she contacted the Atlanta Police Department to report the theft.

The Atlanta PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the BMW.

Shortly after the BMW was entered, a Nashville Metro Police Department officer while on routine patrol picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen BMW with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTCs) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.

Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officer was able to track the BMW to a residential area of Nashville where it was located unoccupied.

The undamaged BMW was impounded and transported to the Nashville Metro PD Impound Lot where it was held for processing by the Crime Scene Division. As a result of evidence recovered from the BMW, a suspect was identified and the vehicle was linked to a large scale investigation currently being conducted by the Nashville Metro PD Auto Theft Division.

The investigation is continuing by the Nashville Metro PD Auto Theft Division.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2009 BMW 128i in October 2008 at Herb Chambers BMW in Boston, Massachusetts.
