The owners of a 2003 Nissan Murano contacted the Los Angeles Police Department Newton Division to report that their vehicle was stolen.
The LAPD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Nissan.
Fifteen (15) minutes later, patrol officers from the LAPD Olympic division picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Nissan with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Nissan to the area of Venice and Van Ness. The officers conducted a traffic stop and took two suspects into custody for auto theft related charges without incident.
The Nissan was impounded for safe keeping.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Nissan Murano in July 2003 at Tustin Nissan Saab in California.
