The owner of a 2012 Toyota Yaris contacted the Chicago Police Department to report that her vehicle was missing from the 800 block of North Halsted Street in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood. The victim had gone to visit some friends, parked her Toyota, and when she returned her vehicle was missing. The Chicago PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.
Shortly after the unit was activated, a vehicle equipped with a LoJack Police Tracking Computer picked up the silent LoJack signal being broadcast from the stolen Toyota. The Toyota was tracked to the 800 block of West Aldine Avenue where it was recovered parked and unoccupied. The Chicago PD recovered the Toyota and returned it to owner on scene. The Toyota was recovered before it could be damaged, stripped, or used in a crime.
The owner was very grateful to LoJack for finding her Toyota in such a timely fashion and stated “LoJack was worth every cent.”
The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Yaris in August 2012 at Grossinger City Toyota.
