The owner of a 2012 Ford Escape called the Albuquerque Police Department to report their vehicle was stolen in the Foothills Area Command.  The Albuquerque PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford.

Around 45 minutes after the activation a detective with the Albuquerque PD Auto Theft Unit and patrol officers picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Ford with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol and undercover vehicles.  The Ford was tracked and located in the area of 3rd Street and Haines in the Valley Area Command.

The reported stolen Ford was located within a fenced in lot behind an abandoned building.  Officers notified the owner of the recovery and cleared the vehicle as stolen.
