The construction company crew arrived at the construction site on Monday morning and discovered their 2015 Kubota Mini Excavator had been stolen sometime during the previous weekend. They immediately contacted the Houston Police Department and filed a theft report.
The Houston PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Kubota excavator.
A short while later a trooper from the Texas Department of Public Safety picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Kubota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the trooper tracked the Kubota to SH 288 at the intersection of business 288 where they observed it travelling Southbound on SH 288 on a trailer being pulled by a white Ford F250. The Trooper made a traffic stop of the vehicle. After arresting the driver of the pickup the trooper verified the Kubota as the stolen Kubota mini excavator. The Kubota was in good condition and the owner was notified of the recovery.
The LoJack® System was installed in the 2015 Kubota mini excavator in December 2014 at Commercial Sales.
