The owners of a 2006 BMW X5 contacted the Montgomery County Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from their home in the 2900 block Gracefield Road in the Silver Spring area of Montgomery County, Maryland.

The Montgomery County PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the BMW X5.

A short while later troopers from the Maryland State Police picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen BMW with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the troopers tracked the BMW to the 900 block Pope Avenue in Hagerstown, Maryland. At that location, troopers tracked the BMW to a garage and located the vehicle secreted inside. The BMW was recovered by the troopers and the investigation is being conducted by auto theft detectives in the Montgomery County PD.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2006 BMW X5 in February 2008 at HBL Inc. in Vienna, Virginia.
