The owners of a 2003 Ford Expedition contacted the Phillipsburg Police Department, New Jersey, to report that their vehicle had been stolen from the area of their residence. The Phillipsburg PD dispatched an officer who quickly arrived and interviewed the vehicle owner. The officer surveyed the area for the stolen Ford with negative results and then prepared a stolen vehicle report. The officer then arranged for the stolen vehicle information to be entered into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford.

A short while later an officer from the Northampton County, Pennsylvania, picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Ford with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. The officer notified the Northampton County PD radio that a LoJack equipped stolen vehicle was in the area. The Lehigh County Auto Theft Task Force monitors any and all stolen vehicle activity in Lehigh and Northampton, Pennsylvania. The supervisor overseeing the unit became aware that a signal from a LoJack equipped stolen vehicle was being intercepted in Northampton County. The investigators assigned to the task force were notified and fanned out across the area with unmarked police vehicles which are equipped with PTCs. The highly trained investigators soon intercepted the LoJack signal and tracked same to a fenced in location within Northampton County, Pennsylvania. The investigators notified the Phillipsburg PD that the Ford had been located and that a thorough investigation will be conducted to determine the circumstances surrounding the reported theft of this vehicle.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2003 Ford Expedition in October 2005 at Five Towns Chrysler in Inwood, New Jersey.
