The commercial contract owners of a 2015 Lincoln Trailer mounted welder contacted the Harris County Sheriff’s Department to report that their welder was stolen from their construction site at a plant located off from Interstate 10 east in Baytown, Texas.

The Harris County SD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Lincoln welder.

Later the Houston Police Department officers from the Major Offenders division picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Lincoln welder with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the welder to a small independent repair shop off of Scott Street. The person in charge stated he purchased the welder from an unknown person. The subject stated when he purchased the welder it was not mounted on a trailer but was in the bed of a pickup truck. The welder was seized and the owner notified. The investigation is continuing.
