The owners of a 2014 Kia Optima contacted the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office to report that their vehicle had been stolen during the nighttime by an acquaintance that did not have permission to take the vehicle.

A deputy verified the theft and had the vehicle information entered into the state and federal crime computers. This routine action automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Kia.

A short while later officers with the Pueblo Police Department and deputies with the Pueblo SO were picking up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Kia with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTCs) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC a deputy with the Pueblo SO tracked and located the stolen Kia.

The Kia was recovered undamaged however the suspect had fled prior to the arrival of the deputy.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Kia Optima in December 2014 at Dale Spradley Motors in Pueblo, Colorado.
