The owner of a 2015 Chevrolet Captiva contacted the Chicago Police Department to report that she had loaned her vehicle to a friend five days earlier and it hadn’t been returned. The victim, who lives on the 9500 block of South Clyde Ave in Chicago’s Jeffrey Manors neighborhood, told responding officers that she had repeatedly attempted to contact her friend about returning her vehicle and been unable to find them.  The Chicago PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Chevrolet.

The Chicago PD Wentworth District picked up the audible and directional LoJack signal being broadcast from the stolen Chevrolet on their LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC) installed within their squad car. The directional and audible signal directed the officers to the 6000 block of S. St Lawrence Ave in Chicago’s Woodlawn neighborhood where the stolen Chevrolet was located parked and unoccupied.  The Chicago PD recovered the Chevrolet and returned it to its owner.

The Chevrolet’s owner was very grateful to get her vehicle back quickly and undamaged due to LoJack. Police investigation into this vehicle theft continues.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Chevrolet Captiva in August 2015 at Enterprise of Chicago Ridge in Illinois.
