The owner of a 2004 Infiniti G35 discovered that their vehicle was missing from the area of their residence in Allentown, Pennsylvania. The Infiniti owner called 911 and the Allentown Police Department Radio dispatched an officer to investigate the incident. The officer quickly arrived on location, interviewed the complainant and surveyed the area for the Infiniti. When the Infiniti could not be located, the officer prepared a stolen vehicle report and arranged to have the stolen vehicle information entered into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Infiniti.

The Lehigh County Auto Theft Task Force monitors all stolen vehicle activity within their jurisdiction. The task force supervisor became aware that a LoJack activation had taken place within Allentown and notified the task force members. The Allentown PD were also notified that the task force officers would be in the area with undercover police vehicles equipped with LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTCs). The Allentown PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Infiniti with the PTC that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers isolated the signal to a specific area in Allentown and notified the task force that they had set up a perimeter. The task force officers entered the area and within a few minutes had tracked the signal and observed the Infiniti being operated by one individual. The task force officers moved in behind the Infiniti, activated their emergency lighting equipment and subsequently instructing the driver to exit the vehicle. The task force officers then approached the subject while displaying police identification and announcing police in a loud voice. The offender was taken into custody and the Infiniti was confiscated for safekeeping. The offender was charged with violations of the Pennsylvania Crimes Code related to theft.
