The owner of a 2005 Buick Century called the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office to report their vehicle was stolen. The Bernalillo County SO verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Buick.

Within a short time after the activation, officers with the Albuquerque Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Buick with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the audible and directional cues from the PTC, the Buick was tracked and located at an apartment complex. The officers approached the Buick and found it was recently parked but unoccupied. A crime scene specialist was called to process the Buick for evidence at the recovery scene. The Buick was subsequently recovered and towed from the scene for safekeeping to be released to the owner at a later time.
