The owner of a 2002 Lincoln LS 4-door called the Albuquerque Police Department to report their vehicle was stolen. The owner advised the key was stuck in the ignition and the rear window was missing. The Albuquerque PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Lincoln.

A short while after the stolen vehicle entry, deputies with the Valencia County Sheriff’s Office picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Lincoln with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the audible and directional cues from the PTC, the Lincoln was tracked to the area of Reinken and Main where it was located parked in front of a residence in Belen. Deputies made contact with the occupants of the residence at which time they were advised a known subject asked to park the Lincoln in the yard.

The Lincoln was towed from the scene for safekeeping to be reunited with the owner at a later time. The investigation is on-going with workable leads and possible charges to be filed.
