The owner of a 2008 Ingersoll Rand Air Compressor contacted the Chicago Police Department to report that his air compressor was stolen from 1900 block of W Pershing Road in Chicago’s McKinley Park neighborhood. The victim told responding officers that they had video of the machine being removed by being placed in a truck. The Chicago PD verified facts as presented and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed on the air compressor.

The reply code for the stolen air compressor was picked up by the Cook County Sheriff’s deputies in the western suburb of Bensenville which borders DuPage County. The directional and audible signal was tracked to the 500 block of County Line Road where the stolen Ingersoll Rand air compressor was recovered in a garage of a construction company at that location. Police investigation into the theft on scene revealed the air compressor had been purchased earlier by the owner’s son for $2,000. The new owner had been readying the Ingersoll Rand for the field when the police recovered it.

The true owner was summoned to the scene and was able to recover his air compressor. Due to information recovered from the buyer of the stolen air compressor, valuable information was obtained.  Police investigation into this stolen compressor continues.
