The owners of a 2015 Toyota Corolla contacted the Clayton County Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from their home during the early morning hours.

The Clayton County PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.

A short while later a helicopter pilot from the Clayton County PD Helicopter unit picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and air unit. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Toyota to a rural area of the county where it was found abandoned. The helicopter pilot called for a police unit to assist in the recovery.

The officer thought that it may have been parked there to cool off before moving on to a different location.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Corolla in March 2015 at Atlanta Toyota.
