The owners of a 1999 Toyota 4Runner contacted the Harris County Sheriff’s Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from their apartment parking lot during the overnight period.
The Harris County SD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.

A short while later troopers from the Texas Department of Public Safety picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the troopers tracked the Toyota to a dead end street off of Ella Blvd. where the vehicle was backed into the end of the street near a wooded area. The Harris County SD was notified and the Toyota was stored pending notification of the owner. The Toyota was in good condition.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota 4Runner in December 2003 at Mike Calvert Toyota in Houston, Texas.
